ABOUT
Some artists chase a sound. MARC KD lived it.
Born in Copenhagen and shaped by a formative stay in Crestview, Florida in the '90s, he grew up with West Coast funk pouring out of every car window — the warm synths, the slow roll, the swing of a bassline that owns the room. It never left him.
Back in Denmark he made his name in the hip hop groups NoCanDo (#2 on the Danish charts) and KBH Kartel, then produced and featured on the G-funk EP "1 Night of Funk" with Danish rappers Harms & Frisk. His debut solo single "(Just A) Baller" hit #1 in Poland, and his debut album "The Music" (2013) featured live musicians and acclaimed Danish trumpeter Jan Glæsel. Years of the craft. No shortcuts.
In 2022 he built his own house — Black Mansion: an independent label with no major, no investors, no machine behind the curtain. Just the freedom to make funk the way it's supposed to feel.
Today MARC KD sits in a lane almost nobody occupies: grown, suave West Coast G-funk crossed with disco and soul — Prince's edge, Dr. Dre's groove, a voice that commands the room. Not a throwback. Not a gangster. A baller who never stopped believing in the groove.
No rush. Just rhythm.
